PlexTrac New Feature Roundup: Winter 2022 Trends and SLAs, WriteupsDB Repositories, and MORE! March 22, 2022 The winter cold has kept the PlexTrac development team hunkered down and hyper-focused on delivering new and game-changing features to the platform. These features each focus on empowering security teams of all sizes to be more efficient, effective, and proactive with their workflows. With winter drawing to a close and the spring bloom soon to come, let’s take a moment to look back at the awesome new and upgraded features in PlexTrac. The features we’re highlighting are already available or will be coming very soon. As always, for more detailed information, check out our Release Notes page on our documentation site. This release introduces trends and service-level agreements (SLAs) functionality, repositories inside of the Writeups Database, new integrations with HackerOne and Snyk, and more. Trends and Service-level Agreements (SLAs) Establishing and maintaining your service-level agreements (SLAs) is an important part of ensuring a quality standard within security teams, prioritizing work assignments for your employees, and keeping your organization and/or clients safe. With PlexTrac’s new Trends and SLAs feature housed in Analytics, customers can now configure customized time frames for resolving issues and findings by level of criticality, then easily manage, track, and report on how they are performing against their service-level agreements directly in the platform. With Trends and SLAs you now have a quick and easy way to answer the most pressing security questions for your security team, including Is my team responding to the right issues? Are we performing according to plan? Are we improving in our performance? And more! Watch the Trends and SLAs MiniDemo. Writeups Database Repositories Whether you work for a security consultancy, managed security service provider (MSSP) or an in-house security team, your organization may have different practices or groups with their own collection of reusable content specific to their needs and common findings. With PlexTrac’s new Repositories feature in the WriteupsDB, you can now create and manage different writeup repositories in one central location. This is a game-changing new addition to the platform for large consultancies and MSSPs — like PlexTrac client Mandiant — who have multiple teams that provide a wide variety of services for their customers. Repositories allow for many teams to have their own working space, complete with all of the content and permissions relevant to that practice. This addition is the first of a platform-wide focus on customization capabilities, with repositories coming to many of our other trademark features in the near future. But we’ll have more on that later… Watch the WriteupsDB Repositories MiniDemo. New Integrations with HackerOne and Snyk PlexTrac is excited to announce brand new integrations with HackerOne and Snyk. HackerOne is the first penetration testing as a service (PTaaS) tool to be integrated natively into PlexTrac, further demonstrating the platform’s role in centralizing and analyzing all of your important data. HackerOne is a popular PTaaS tool that’s designed to connect businesses with the world’s best pentesters. Our integration with HackerOne will allow users to push triaged bug bounty findings directly from HackerOne into PlexTrac via API call. This capability enables users to report on HackerOne findings, leverage PlexTrac’s Analytics module, and much more. Watch the HackerOne Integration MiniDemo. Snyk is a powerful platform trusted by thousands of organizations to ensure that the code they write is secure. With Snyk these organizations can locate and automatically fix vulnerabilities in code, open source dependencies, containers, and infrastructure as code. PlexTrac’s integration with Snyk allows PlexTrac users to aggregate these Snyk findings within the platform. Quality Assurance (QA) Workflows Quality Assurance (QA) Workflows, a feature that was announced in our last roundup, is now live for all PlexTrac users! The QA Workflows feature is focused on enhancing efficiency, productivity, and collaboration for your entire team right inside of PlexTrac. This feature, tied to the Reports module, enables editing, commenting, and proofreading —or QA — on all reports inside the platform. With QA Workflows, your team can collaborate on reports without ever needing to export to Word again! The following workflows have been added to PlexTrac Commenting across Narratives and Findings Tracking changes across Narratives and Findings Accepting or rejecting formatting suggestions Annotated readout view for a report viewer, allowing users to quickly scan, review, and accept or reject all edits and comments Updated Report navigation to easily review and comment on an entire report inside the PlexTrac platform Watch the Quality Assurance (QA) Workflows MiniDemo. Additional Customization Options We’ve streamlined our Administration panel and added a new section called “Customize.” This section enables PlexTrac administrators to customize their specific instance of PlexTrac. One of the primary use cases for this addition is to customize your Finding form, enabling you to work more efficiently by only writing and storing the information relevant to your organization.
