Hey there. I’m Nick Popovic, PlexTrac, Hacker in residence. Welcome to the PlexTrac Pro Tips, a video series of quick tips and tricks for maximizing how you use PlexTrac. Brought to you by me and my fellow PlexTrac super users to share cool features and uses that we you hope will make your work even more effective and efficient. Have a unique PlexTrac use case or tip of your own. Share in the comments. Now, let’s get to our pro tip.

In this Pro Tip, we’ll talk about using short codes to customize your reasonable content within PlexTrac. These are the short codes that ship with the platform. And I have created some custom short codes. We see that I’ve created a short code in this format, and you can either establish a short code at the report level or the client level. I’m going to copy this custom field and we’re going to create a client. I’ll show you how to use short codes. I’m going to call this testing company and we’re going to add a custom field, and we’ll add that label we created earlier, and the value will be test co.

If we hop into the test co client and create a report, I’m going to choose a report template that I created earlier that has several of those custom fields already added. So I’m going to add content to the field values. And just to get a compare contrast, I’ll just choose the dates from itself. And for this demo, let’s say report is at a high risk.

If we look at our narrative, we have short codes all throughout the introduction. If we look at the bottom, we use short codes here. Let’s add a finding real quick as well, because you can use short codes within the context of narrative and findings. So I have a finding that utilizes short codes. We’ll add it to our report, go back to the readout view. We noticed that the finding also then leverages the client name short code within it. So if we go and we search and replace and replace short codes, those values in the key value pair that we had added in earlier at the client level and the report level, they replaced the data in the report.

You see down here, the environment is at a high risk test code. And then if we look at our finding as well, we can see that the verb within the finding has that short code. This is a novel way to customize your saved and reusable content in PlexTrac. Thanks. Bye.
