Vice President of Product Development

PlexTrac — a fast growing start-up looking to scale its team and platform capabilities — is seeking a  Vice President of Product Development to scale the PlexTrac platform and expand the product offering.

PlexTrac, Inc. is a cybersecurity company on a mission to empower security teams to identify and eliminate the biggest threats to their environments. The PlexTrac platform enables the automated reporting and tracking of cybersecurity risks and allows for enhanced collaboration across the enterprise. PlexTrac takes purple teaming to the next level and is changing the paradigm around continuous security assessment and validation. This innovative approach has allowed PlexTrac to gain significant traction among companies and teams of all sizes, including several of the Fortune 500.

The Vice President of Product Development will be responsible for creating and supporting the execution of the PlexTrac product roadmap. This strategic role will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders to align and execute the strategy and scale the growth of the platform. 

This position is vital to maturing and expanding the PlexTrac product to achieve our vision of becoming the mission critical platform for every security team and service provider, regardless of team size or program maturity. 

The functional areas that this leader will be accountable for include the following: 

  • Strategic leadership — Serve as a member of the PlexTrac leadership team. Collaborate on strategic goal setting. Understand, enhance, and execute the vision for the PlexTrac product that enables and inspires the work of Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and Engineering.
  • Product development — Develop and prioritize a product roadmap. Align the product with the needs of current customers and identify new or refined product features that will drive growth. Identify short-term and long-term scheduling, budget, and resource needs to execute on the product roadmap.
  • Industry research and data analysis — Become immersed in the cybersecurity industry to extract data on market needs, competitive landscape, and opportunities for product expansion. Forecast areas of product growth based on market trends, industry data, and current customer feedback. 
  • Build relationships with the PlexTrac community of users and prospects — In conjunction with the Director of Marketing, develop and nurture the PlexTrac community in the marketplace as a resource for data on expanded features and markets. Act as a customer advocate and industry influencer. 
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration — Partner closely with the Engineering team to ensure the right amount of resources and talent exist needed to realize the product vision and execute the roadmap. Collaborate regularly with the Vice Presidents of Sales and Customer Success to ensure current requirements and future desires are accounted for in the product roadmap. 


  • Developing a product roadmap for scaling growth and empowering sales to reach $10 – $20 million in revenue
  • Defining a strategy for modularizing the platform for tiered expansion and a community edition offering.
  • Identifying talent needs across departments to reach growth objectives


  • Assist in building and growing a community of users surrounding the product.
  • Identifying strategic product growth opportunities.
  • Stay current on the competitive landscape.
  • Build a team of product owners and managers to facilitate scalable growth.


  • 10+ years of experience in product development with a SaaS or software product 
  • Prior experience in the information security or technology industries with demonstrated knowledge of the target markets relevant to the PlexTrac product
  • Track record of successful experience growing and scaling a product for a fast-growing technology startup
  • High level leadership experience with proven success in collaborating across departments and driving organization wide initiatives
  • Experience creating product appeal from both bottom up (appealing to the practitioner or user) and top down (appealing to purchaser or C-suite) perspectives
  • Proven results in significantly increasing revenue through product scaling


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Computer Science, Information Security, or related field or equivalent in professional experience or achievements. Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Strong project and budgetary management skills, outstanding organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Visionary; able to communicate the product vision to all stakeholders and customers
  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate with people in a variety of roles and departments
  • Flexible and adaptable
